Week Two AND THREE Home Activities

Due to the shortened weeks...(Teacher Only Day and Labour Day)

How Prepared is your family in an Emergency?
I went up to the Civil Defence day in Masterton on Sunday. It was really interesting to see how well prepared you would have to be to survive for 3 days in an emergency. Each person needs 15-20 litres per day in order to be well prepared - does your family have this put aside in case of emergency?
Your activity this week, is to review what your family has done for emergency preparedness, and then go on to the getthru.govt.nz website and see what you should have in your house. Talk to your family/parents to see if you can help get them ready, and show evidence on Week 4 Friday that you have started to help your family get prepared.

NOTE - Week 5...the people that have completed this task and can SHOW EVIDENCE...Alex, Kayla, Ryan (completed the Household Emergency Plan :)), Wilton (taken photos of his family's things!!), Tash.

Week One - Welcome Back

Welcome back everyone!!
This week, we are assembling our maths notebooks. We hope that these will be of use for you not only this year, but in the coming years.
This is due on Friday

Also, if you didnt get your Celebrations title page done, please have this done by Wednesday.

Maths Badges - I have not seen many of these activities...remember to bring them to school so that if you have a moment, then you can work on them. Plus remember that you can have class time to do them on Fridays.

Spelling Lists - all groups should have their spelling words for the week to take home by Tuesday.

All reading/spelling/maths groups have a number of activities to complete this week. Try getting in the habit of taking work to finish if you dont get it finished in class. These are not set homework activities, but more to start get you in the habit of finishing work without always needing to be told.

A great social bookmarking site/thing is http://delicious.com/, and I have set up one for martinborough school...http://delicious.com/martinboroughschool. This is where we can all save our favourites so that everyone at school can share them...MORE about this later this term.

Reminders - Lamb and Calf day next Tuesday; Next Friday is a Teacher Only Day; Week 3 Monday is Labour Day...and of course make sure that you mark in your diary 31 Oct as the Taarga Rally Day.
